Feature: Datadog Integration
Metrics flow.
Overview
The Nova Datadog integration meets customers in the observability platform they already use rather than asking them to migrate. Datadog is the dominant observability platform in many enterprise stacks; teams have years of investment in dashboards, alerts, and APM instrumentation. Nova’s integration ingests Datadog metrics and traces for correlation, fires Nova workflows from Datadog alerts, and provides drill-down links back into Datadog so the customer’s existing investigation muscle stays intact.
- Metrics flow. Datadog metrics ingested into Nova for correlation; the integration meets customers in their existing observability stack.
- APM traces. Datadog APM traces flow into Nova analysis; trace-level context enriches incident investigation.
- Bidirectional alerts. Datadog alerts trigger Nova workflows; Nova insights surface back in Datadog dashboards.
- Single-tenant API key plus drill-down links. Standard Datadog auth; Nova insights link back to Datadog dashboards for deep investigation.
The approach
The practical approach is non-disruptive integration (existing dashboards keep working), opt-in metrics flow (the customer chooses what Nova ingests), bidirectional context (Datadog knows about Nova and vice versa), documented setup that supports self-service installation, and per-customer integration configuration committed to the customer’s account so the model is reviewable.
- Non-disruptive. Existing Datadog dashboards continue to work; the integration adds rather than replaces.
- Opt-in metrics flow. Customer chooses which metrics flow into Nova; preserves data-governance trust.
- Bidirectional context. Datadog knows about Nova; Nova knows about Datadog; investigation flows in both directions.
- Documented setup plus per-customer config. Step-by-step integration guide for self-service; per-customer configuration committed for operational review.
Why this compounds
The Datadog integration compounds across customer adoption. Each customer who adopts the integration grows Nova’s coverage of the observability ecosystem; each integration deepens Nova’s pattern library across Datadog-shaped data; the integration matures from "Datadog plus Nova" to a single coherent investigation surface.
- Faster adoption. Datadog customers adopt Nova without migration; the integration reduces friction to first value.
- Incident response. Nova insights surface in Datadog where on-call already lives; MTTR drops because the data is in the place engineers already look.
- Preserved investment. Existing Datadog dashboards and alerts continue to work; the customer’s years of observability work are not wasted.
- Institutional knowledge. Each integration teaches Datadog patterns; Nova’s observability vocabulary grows with each customer.
The Datadog integration is a product investment that pays off across years. Nova AI Ops integrates where customers already are rather than forcing migration.
